What will this actually cost me?

Users are trying to translate points into usable work. Complaints focus on daily budgets disappearing into reasoning, uncertain subscription value, and outputs that cannot be accepted when the balance runs out.

What this suggests

The recurring issue is predictability, not only price. Alongside frustration, a community-maintained cheap-bot list shows people actively optimizing their spend.

I basically received no response at all.

Reliability Troubleshooting

Is it down, or is it just me?

Several posts ask about unavailable models or login failures. Others describe the iOS app opening Safari or chats answering an earlier message rather than the latest one.

What this suggests

People are using the subreddit as an informal status desk. The posts show uncertainty about where a failure sits: the app, Poe, or an upstream model.

This just started last night, but I’m having a weird thing happen now on multiple chats, where the AI is responding to the second most recent message sent.

Please don’t change the bot I built.

Users ask about retirements, unexpected model substitutions, new-model availability, and changes to thinking behavior. Some worry that swapping the underlying model changes a custom bot’s personality or prompt-following.

What this suggests

Access to many models is part of the attraction; stable access to a particular model matters once someone has built a workflow or character around it.

Just noticed all of my bots using Google Gemini 2.5 Pro got changed over to Gemini Flash 3.5, ruining the behaviour.

Memory & context Expectation gap

Why doesn’t it remember our work?

A coding-project user describes repeatedly uploading files despite enabling memory. A novelist asks whether auto-managed context will preserve or summarize away important story details.

What this suggests

“Memory” and “context” are not clear mental models for these posters. Their practical question is whether a project can continue tomorrow without paying to reconstruct it.

So i feel like i am in a vicious cycle I can't get out off and should just start over.

Better prose, less fighting the model.

Roleplay and long-form writing are a visible use case. Posters discuss free-plan viability, prose quality, character control, refusals, and which models suit a sustained story. Creators also pitch specialized bots and ask about fine-tuning.

What this suggests

This is an active mix of users seeking better writing and builders trying to supply it. Promotional promises should not be read as evidence that the advertised bots deliver.

My question basically is if Poe is any good for role-play anymore if you’re on a free plan.

What this suggests

For these posters, the product’s appeal is more than a menu of model names. Discovering what people have built is part of the value.

There are no longer headings for more diverse bots. Where can I find that again?

A snapshot, not a sentiment poll.

Reviewed on October 1, 2026. The browser-visible New feed and Top · This Month feed each yielded 28 community posts. Deduplicating their overlap produced 31 unique posts, dated September 2–October 1.

Visible comments were also read in the pricing, coding-memory, and bot-discovery threads. This was not a complete scrape of the subreddit or of every reply.

Short quotes are verbatim excerpts from the captured posts, with source links, public handles, and UTC post dates. The explicitly labeled API title quote is from a title. Context notes paraphrase replies except where quotation marks indicate exact wording.

  • Reddit-inserted ads and older pinned announcements were excluded. Creator promotions appearing as community posts were retained and labeled.
  • Theme labels, cross-tagging, and “what this suggests” are editorial analysis, not the posters’ own classifications.
  • Five posts are labeled creator/provider-related: four roleplay-related posts and one playground promotion. Their claims have not been tested.
  • Outage reports, prices, model names, and availability claims reflect what users wrote; they were not independently verified against official documentation.
  • No vote-weighted ranking, automated sentiment score, or claim of community-wide consensus is made. The selection favors recent and monthly-top visible posts.
